WELCOME TO CENTRAL REGISTRATION!

What is the Central Registration Center (CR)?

  • A central facility where families who are new to Prince William County Schools and whose language is other than Standard American English come to register their children and have their American English skills evaluated
  • A friendly environment with bilingual (Spanish/English) staff dedicated entirely to the needs of new families coming into our school system

What do we do at CR?

  • Registration and English language assessment
  • Grade level recommendations
  • High school course recommendations
  • Interpretation of foreign and out of county transcripts for Prince William County Schools' students
  • School orientation to routines such as school procedures, scheduling, graduation requirements, and the Code of Behavior (rules and expectations)
  • Information on employment opportunities within Prince William County Schools
  • Community services information, such as health, library and bus services
  • PWC Adult Education information

Why do we have CR?

By having all of these services in a centralized location, Prince William County Schools can better serve new language minority students and their families. In addition, bilingual staff members are familiar with foreign documents and school systems ensuring that complete and accurate information is obtained during the registration process.

Who comes to this Center?

  • Students who have recently entered the United States from other languages, including World English, and/or cultural backgrounds
  • Students transfering to PWC schools who have been in an ESOL or bilingual program in another county or state in the last two years
  • Students entering school for the first time who were born in the United States, but who live in a home where a language other than American English is spoken

Information on obtaining bilingual support services (translating and interpreting for school purposes such as parent, teacher or student conferences) is also available. Schools can locate this information on the intranet.
