CANCELLATION POLICY

The Office of Professional Development reserves the right to cancel professional development offerings when there is insufficient enrollment and/or a course is not financially viable. The following guidelines will be followed for district level offerings:

  • College courses with less than 25 registrants one week before the first class will be cancelled.
  • Professional development offerings with less than 10 registrants one week before first occurrence will be cancelled.

Additional professional development offerings will be added according to the following schedule:

Fall offerings - June 1

Spring offerings - Dec 1

Summer offerings - Mar 1

All division and school professional development offerings are to be submitted for approval to the office of Professional Development prior to inclusion in the Online Professional Development Catalog. This is to ensure alignment with the division Strategic Plan and individual school plans.

Inclement Weather

School closings, delayed openings, or early closing information will be announced on the PWCPS home page as soon as decisions are made ( Go to www.pwcs.edu, see the top of the "Announcements" section).

If the PWCPS home page cannot be accessed on a day when there is inclement weather, please listen for closing announcements on television, PWCPS Cable Channel 21, radio, or call 703.791.2776, and select #3.

Professional Development Activities: If Prince William County Public Schools are closed for the entire day all professional development activities are canceled. If schools close early, professional development activities are canceled and will be rescheduled. If schools open late, activities may be cancelled; contact the department or school sponsoring the activity. Information on cancellation of Saturday professional development activities may be obtained by calling the department or school sponsoring the activity.
