Henderson’s physical education consists of many fun and exciting skills, challenges, and games. Grades K-2 work on basic locomotor skills. These are basic skills such as throwing and kicking. Other skills we work on include activities such as tag games, relays, team games, modified sports, as well as, aerobics, stretching, and exercise techniques. Grades 3-5 refine the basic skills from the younger grades along with more complex team activities such as volleyball, track and field, baseball, football, basketball, soccer, and many more. Classes compete in many physical fitness challenges with the other classes while striving to build good teamwork and sportsmanship skills. Grades 4-5 also take a variety of physical fitness tests in the fall and spring.
All grades participate in a Relay for Life to help raise awareness and money for cancer. This event was done in late April through late May; however, next year, I am excited to make this challenge last all year.
