Manassas, VA "Learning for a Lifetime"
Computer Lab Our Goal:To prepare our students with the knowledge for an ever-changing technological world.
Loch Lomond's Computer Lab
In Loch Lomond's computer lab, students learn about and get hands-on experience in programs that are appropriate for their grade level. Instruction is based on the Virginia Department of Education curriculum objectives. Kindergarten students use Microsoft's Paint Program to learn about computers and compose shapes and pictures. First and second grade students also work in the Paint Program and in word processing programs. They type journals and stories which they have authored. Third and fourth grade students work in all of these programs. They also create spreadsheets, charts and databases. They learn and improve their keyboarding skills using the Type to Learn Program. In addition to improving all of these skills, fifth graders study binary code, use the internet and integrate graphics into their documents. Loch Lomond students work hard in the computer lab and make many accomplishments. We also collaborate with the classroom teacher in order for students to create projects related to the various areas of the curriculum.
