Summer Skills for Rising Second Graders
2008-2009
Dear
Parents of Rising Second Graders,
The Second
Grade teachers are looking forward to having your child with us next year. Parents have asked us what they can do over
the summer to help their child be ready for September. We would like to share with you several
suggestions and activities that will help your child maintain current
skills. Research has shown that 80% of
reading loss happens over the summer when children do not read at the
appropriate level.
