BULL RUN PLAZA INSPIRES GOOD CITIZENS

New partnership gives rewards to those on best behavior

A partnership agreement between Yorkshire Elementary School and Bull Run Plaza was formally signed on May 2.“The pride that our students feel when they see their name in lights on Route 234 is tremendous,” says Yorkshire Elementary School Principal Damon Cerrone about his school’s partnership with Bull Run Shopping Plaza.

Listing the names of the school’s “Good Citizens” on the giant bulletin board along the main thoroughfare in Manassas is just one of the perks that Yorkshire Elementary is receiving from their new partner, Bull Run Plaza. The shopping center management has also provided educational field trips, and donated gift certificates as well as cash to enhance classroom settings.

Bull Run Plaza has also incorporated student artwork in their direct mail pieces. “We gain exposure [from the partnership],” says Cerrone. “All this shows that Yorkshire Elementary has School Board Chairman Lucy S. Beauchamp, Superintendent of Schools Steve Walts, and other School Division staff congratulate the students on the new partnership.many talented students.”

In return, the school provides the shopping center with Spanish translations, artwork for their seasonal brochures, and limited publicity through school newsletters and programs.

“We are preparing our students to go out and be the future leaders. Any time a business is willing to give to our students I believe it is a win-win situation,” says Cerrone. “I hope the partnership will continue to grow and allow us to support the plaza as they support us.”
