COUNTY SUPERVISOR SHARES NATIONAL PRIDE WITH STUDENTS

John D. Jenkins Presents New Flag to Ann Ludwig

Prince William County District Supervisor John D. Jenkins with students from Ann LudwigI thought it was enchanting.”

That’s what Anton Wesley, a student at Ann Ludwig School, said about the new flag that was presented to them by Neabsco District Supervisor John D. Jenkins.

Not long ago, the county supervisor, along with his wife and Senior Aide Kelly Easterly, visited Ann Ludwig and met with the staff and students who care for the school flag. During a small ceremony, Jenkins gifted the students with an American flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol at the request of Congressman Tom Davis.

Nervous students helped as Jenkins “unveiled” the flag, and murStudents helped Jenkins display the new flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol.murs of excitement arose from the crowd when everyone learned that the special version of the “Stars and Stripes” was to be left at the school for their use. An official certificate from the architect of the Capitol was also given to the school.

After the presentation, Jenkins enjoyed some light conversation with the students about the flag’s meaning and about patriotism. He also shared his excitement at being asked to participate in this very special day. When asked what he thought about Supervisor Jenkins and his visit to the school, once again Anton Wesley summed things up nicely:

“It was cool,” he said.
