HYLTON'S GUYS AND DOLLS EARNS CAPPIE NOMINATION

Cast Members praised for Best Song and Male Vocalist Performance

The cast of C.D. Hylton's 2006 performance of 'Guys and Dolls.'Jim Smith, a junior at C.D. Hylton High School, was nominated for a “Cappies” award for Male Vocalist for his performance in the school’s theatre production of Guys and Dolls this year, and the entire cast earned a nominaton for Best Song for their performance of the show-stopping “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat.” Philip Keirstead, assistant choral director at C.D. Hylton High School, directed Guys and Dolls.

In the play, Smith performs the part of Nicely-Nicely Johnson and sings “Fugue for Tin Horns,” “The Oldest Established,” "Guys and Dolls,” and “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat.” Smith and the rest of the schools’ Guys and Dolls cast performed “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat” on stage at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in the Cappies Gala on June 11.

The Cappies is a student critics and awards program that celebrates the best in high school theatre. The Prince William students were among other students from 50 area high schools who were honored.
