THANKING VOLUNTEERS IN STYLE

Bel Air Elementary School gives back to those who give so much

Volunteers won gift baskets prepared by Bel Air faculty and staff.Sometimes good deeds bring their own rewards, as proven by faculty and staff at Bel Air Elementary School. To show thanks for the countless hours of support provided by school friends and fans, Bel Air put together a Volunteer Appreciation Night complete with dinner, door prizes, and bingo.

“Without all your help and all your extra efforts, many things we do at Bel Air could not be done, or could not be done as well,” said Bel Air Principal Bruce Leiby during the event’s opening remarks. “We are very proud of our accomplishments and we could not have done those without your help.”

After enjoying dinner and dessert donated by Brother’s Encore Italian Restaurant and Old Country Buffet, everyone pulled up to the table to take their chance at bingo. Those who filled up their cards first enjoyed prizePrincipal Bruce Leiby and Assistant Principal Clint Mitchell called out Bingo winners.s donated by Applebee’s, Hard Times Café, Laser Quest, Odyssey Cruise Line, Outback Steakhouse, Pampered Chef Consultant Rebecca Slaughter, Panera Bread, Target, and Wal-Mart.

Representatives from each grade level (and the main office) prepared a different gift basket to be given away as door prizes as well. In-between bingo rounds, lucky volunteers received “Family Fun Night,” “Taste of Italy,” and a variety of other creative baskets prepared by Bel Air faculty and staff.

Principal Leiby remarked that Volunteer Appreciation Night was just a small way for the school to show its thanks to all of those who give their time to Bel Air Elementary. He also hoped it would show family and friends how rewarding volunteer work can be. “I hope you spread the word throughout the community that Bel Air really is the place to be.”
