Victory Elementary School Opens Doors to Community at Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

More than 200 families, friends, Victory Elementary School employees, central office administrators, and state and local officials joined the Prince William County School Board Chairman, Lucy S. Beauchamp, Brentsville District School Board member Milton C. Johns, Superintendent of Schools Steven L. Walts, and Principal Donna Cude for a ribbon cutting ceremony at Victory Elementary School in Bristow on September 12 at dusk.

The entire fifth grade class, under the direction of music teacher Susan Black, sang “The Star Spangled Banner,” “Celebrate with Joy,” and “We All Celebrate.” “You would not believe these students had less than a week to practice,” said Ms. Cude, as she praised the students for their performance.

Congressman Davis and Mrs. Cude“Although we have been open only a week, we have a community – a community in spirit and in effort, with the focus on helping our children learn and be successful,” said Ms. Cude.

Congressman Tom Davis presented Ms. Cude with a U.S. flag that was flown over the Capitol. “We will fly this flag proudly,” said Mrs. Cude.

“This is a unique building design,” said Mrs. Beauchamp. “There is no other elementary school in Prince William that has a similar design.” Classrooms are in a two-level building and the administrative offices, library, and cafetorium are on one level, a design dictated by the rugged teSchool administrators at Victory Elementary School ceremony.rrain of the original building site.

Mrs. Beauchamp expressed appreciation to the Board of County Supervisors and members of the Virginia delegation for their continued support of Prince William County Public Schools.

Dr. Walts commended Victory families for their active participation in the school and involvement in their children’s learning experiences.

Victory Elementary School, with a capacity of 850 students, has an enrollment of 664 for the opening of school.
