JoEllen SuterStudents at Osbourn Park High School are learning safe driving from one of the best instructors in the state. The school’s JoEllen Suter was named Virginia Driver Education Teacher of the Year at the recent state conference of the Virginia Association for Driver Education and Traffic Safety.

“Ms. Suter teaches her students the importance of responsible behavior and safe driving,” said Fred Milbert, curriculum supervisor for Prince William County Public Schools. “Her success is demonstrated in the attitudes of her students and the success they have had at the state safe driving contest.”

Ms. Suter and her Osbourn Park students took top honors at the annual Virginia competition in three of the last four years.

Beyond garnering impressive contest results, this award-winning teacher gives her students critical skills that can spell the difference between safe driving and disaster.

Ms. Suter also shares her vital teaching expertise. She has trained “Driver Education” teacher candidates for both classroom and in-car instruction, and serves as president-elect of the Southeast region of the American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association.
