Amid baskets of paper flowers, portraits, banners, and books, School Board members glowed with pride at the artistic talents students displayed in the board meeting room on February 1 to kick off School Board Appreciation Month.
Nearly all available space in the board room was filled with colorful student art work of every dimension. "Because of what YOU do....look what WE can do," proclaimed the banner from Mullen Elementary School. Seniors from Woodbridge High School were effusive in thanking the School Board as their work depicted graduation hats, and more. Other sentiments expressed include "We love first grade," "Thank you Beary much," and "Thanks for your time, hard work, and dedication."
Gabby Endy, third grader at Pattie Elementary School, led the evening's tribute by presenting one of her paintings on behalf of Pattie Elementary to Dumfries District representative Betty D. Covington.

Tribute from Victory Elementary School - Carolyn Cornwell, fifth grade teacher at Victory Elementary School, along with six students and teacher Heather Poorman, presented the school's children's cookbook to each board member, with a note thanking the board for all their work. Every fifth grader signed the note.

Julie Hurst, Principal of Henderson Elementary School, teachers Sandy Scourby and Stephanie Goering, and four students presented Henderson pens and a basket of "thank you" notes written by students.
