Current and future Potomac High School students got an advance look at course offerings for next year during the school's recent Curriculum Fair. Organized by Natalie Wright, guidance director at Potomac High School, the event allowed both students and parents to explore the different course options available to high school students in Prince William County.
“The Curriculum Fair is an opportunity to spike interest in academic subjects while providing insight about the course work that lies ahead,” says Wright. “Students and parents will be able to make informed decisions regarding a course of study.”
Prince William County Schools offers its high school students a number of different programs and courses of study; they provide a world of opportunity, but seem daunting to young adults. The February 6 fair gave current students and transfer students, rising ninth graders, and parents a chance to meet with representatives from the school’s different departments, and to ask questions about classes in each curriculum area.
This was the first time that a Curriculum Fair has been offered at Potomac High School, and is the first Prince William County Schools event of its kind to be offered in several years. Wright says that the school plans to hold additional Curriculum Fairs in the future.
