Superintendent's Journey

Once is not enough for Superintendent Steve Walts. After visiting all 82 Prince William County Schools in 82 Days, he continued to visit all 82 schools again and visited Westridge Elementary School on the last day of the school year.

“I learned so much on my first visits, it was clear that I had to go back to meet more students, staff and community members,” says Walts. “They become my instructors, since they know more than anyone about what their schools need and what they’re accomplishing.”

Walts says the insights gained in his travels make him more effective in leading the School Division and connecting with the community.
