The student-operated Cougar Branch at Benton will be open for business during Tuesday lunch shifts, ready to help customers open new accounts or make deposits. Students will be hired for the jobs of bank manager, assistant manager, teller, and marketing specialist and work under the supervision of a Cardinal Bank employee.

Students interested in applying for the bank jobs will first learn how to write a resume, interview for a job, and dress appropriately for the position. On Wednesdays from 3-4 p.m. the bank’s marketing specialist will work with the marketing specialist students to help them learn to advertise the bank's services.

In-school bank branches offer students a chance to see the tangible results that saving can yield to learn about the concepts of money management. Benton is the first county middle school to open a bank branch. The bank already has $1,000 in deposits from students. “We are proud and excited to begin a partnership with Cardinal Bank,” says Linda Leibert, principal. “This is a unique opportunity for students to learn the value of being wise with their money and learn to save.”
