Mountain View Elementary School’s Principal, Kirsten Fisher, is thankful to have a local business to spruce up the grounds of her School of Excellence. “The look of the school should match the quality of all that goes on inside the building,” says Fisher. "The parents have just raved about how nice everything looks."
Danny Humphries, owner of Advantage Landscaping, told Fisher that more than 75 percent of his clients are in the Haymarket/Gainesville area and many of his clients' kids attend Mountain View Elementary and Bull Run Middle Schools. "What better way to give back to the community than to offer landscaping services to these two schools?" said Humphries. This partnership is also good for business. "When people see the quality job we did at the schools, our hope is that they will want to use us for their own landscaping needs."

James Addington, Assistant Principal at Bull Run, reports that Chris Bergen of Advantage Landscaping contacted him in December. “He was willing to donate supplies and the labor to do the work,” says Addington. “They worked very well with our school staff and did an outstanding job.”
The company plans to continue the partnerships on an ongoing basis. “We will provide upkeep on the areas we have landscaped, and in the future will add to the landscaping around the entire building,” says Humphries.

Professional landscaping work has been completed around both schools’ marquees and at the front walkway and entrance to the schools. Advantage provided trees, shrubs, flowers, mulch, and even some boulders to enhance the look of the school’s exteriors, all at no cost to the schools.
"Since we are site-based managed, we want to spend every dime of our money on instruction-- those areas that directly benefit the students," said Fisher. “With Advantage providing the landscaping, the school doesn't have to use any of its funds for the enhancement of school grounds.”
