On behalf of the School Division employees, School Board Chairman Lucy S. Beauchamp, Vice Chairman Betty D. Covington (Dumfries), and Superintendent of Schools Steven L. Walts accepted a plaque of appreciation from Paul Moessner, Chairman of the Prince William United Way Regional Advisory Council during the School Board meeting on March 1, 2006. Moessner praised those in the School Division who assisted and thanked those who gave generously to reach a total of $135,221.86, an increase over last year's campaign by 21.44%.
“This has been the most successful of the campaigns in the community this year as far as percentage of increase,” said Moessner, noting that contributions rose to just over $830,000, compared to $750,000 last year. He said he looks forward to next year. “With the leadership that comes from Dr. Walts, the support of the School Board, and the coordination by the staff in the Department of Communications and Technology Services, including Associate Superintendent Keith Imon, Debra Hoge, and Doug Eadie, we will really do well next year. The best part is that the community wins.”
Chairman Beauchamp expressed the School Board’s appreciation for the recognition and said, “It is our employees who make this campaign such a success by opening their hearts and wallets.” |
