Graham Park Middle School students learn about life choices from local business leaders

Eighth-grade students at Graham Park Middle School recently participated in a two-day seminar focusing on the impact their personal and academic choices may have on their future life and career goals. Through lecture, structured practical exercises, and role play, students were exposed to information on time management, effective communication skills, goal setting, and money management.

“The CHOICES program is an extension of our commitment to educational initiatives that motivate students to stay in school and work toward achieving their full potential,” commented Rebecca Barnes, president and CEO of Bargain Boxes, Inc., whose company formed a business partnership with Graham Park in the spring of 2005. The students were led through the various exercises by Barnes; Darren Criglar, private training and development consultant; and Lynn Roadcap, president of ADD Success Strategies, Inc.

“Mr. Criglar was very well spoken. He really broke down the meaning of an education to me. I learned that I need to think about the choices I make,” related one of the eighth graders when asked about the program.
