Students and parents were able to explore a variety of software and hardware in use at McAuliffe Elementary during the school’s second annual Technology Nights event. Several Forest PThe students get to take a look at the parts inside a computer.ark High School students assisted by demonstrating some of the latest technologies available in the elementary schoolroom. Students from kindergarten to fifth grade took a turn at making computer cables, being a member of the school-wide broadcast team, painting with the aid of technology, and learning about the “insides” of a computer.

For McAuliffe students, working with technology is nothing new, but Technology Night allowed them to try their hand at new activities. These kids are on the computer regularly, with the help of the school’s instructional technologist, learning how to navigate through files and utilize software to broaden their education.

Currently, kids at McAuliffe are finishing up a tech-shirt design contest where they have learned how to use the Paint program to create their own original artwork. The students are using the computer to prepare an image for a t-shirt that represents the theme “Technology Takes You Places at McAuliffe.”
