Prince William County School Board members and senior staff shared the School Division’s success through three workshops offered at the 66th Annual National School Boards Association (NSBA) Conference in Chicago, Illinois. The workshops touched on community engagement, technology, and accountability and were led by top PWCS officials including School Board Chairman Lucy S. Beauchamp, Keith Imon, associate superintendent for Communications and Technology Services, and others.
Beauchamp, Imon, and Sharon Henry, administrative coordinator for Partnership Prince William, presented “Excellent Schools are Everyone’s Business: A School-to-Business Partnership,” a workshop on partnerships that impact student academic achievement and student wor k readiness skills. During the session, Tim Pickney, senior tax specialist from the Internal Revenue Service, spoke about his role in the School Division’s award-winning partnership with the Prince William Area Family Economic Success Partnership.
Beauchamp and Jim Hite, supervisor of Network Services and Central Operations, presented “Get Rid of Your Board Books! How to Successfully Implement a Truly Paperless Meeting Solution.” The workshop focused on the PWCS Electronic School Board and how the new technology has saved the School Division countless hours and precious dollars.
PWCS also hosted “Strategic Planning for Continuous Improvement.” Pam Gauch, associate superintendent for Student Learning and Accountability, joined Beauchamp for a discussion about mapping school success. The panel demonstrated how the PWCS Strategic Plan guides division operations so that systems are aligned and work to improve student learning and achievement.
