Woodbridge High School Staff for outstanding performance and dedication in preparing for Governor Tim Kaine’s visit to review the Freshman Transition Program.
Serena Suthers, School Food & Nutrition Services, on receiving commendations from the Virginia Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Agriculture on school food and nutrition programs in Prince William County Public Schools.

for each of the school’s band program receiving a “Superior” rating at both the VBODA Marching Band and VBODA District Concert Band Festivals, which qualified the programs to receive Virginia Honor Band status for the 2005-06 school year.
Sue Cerrone, guidance counselor, Sudley Elementary School, received a Certificate of Achievement for establishing the “Girls on The Run” program at Sudley Elementary School and volunteering as head coach. This program helped preteen girls develop healthier lifestyles and increased their self-respect through classroom training and running.

Karen Kenney, case manager, Office of Risk Management and Security Services, received a Certificate of Achievement for undergoing and meeting the licensure, educational, and experience requirements of the Commission for Case Manager Certification to become a certified case manager.
Jean Charlton, testing coordinator, Stonewall Jackson High School, received a Certificate of Achievement for Outstanding Performance for putting together Standards of Learning data for administrative and teacher teams by August each year.

Kathryn Lund, Mullen Elementary School for outstanding performance as a special education educator and Lead Mentor teacher for Mullen Elementary School. Year after year it is not uncommon for 100% of Ms. Lund’s students to pass the SOLs and for many of them to achieve the distinction of Passed Advanced in the areas of math, reading, and writing.
Melissa Slack, Mullen Elementary School for outstanding performance as an early childhood educator. In 2005, Ms. Slack helped a child that had no socialization skills, no functional language, and was able to help him grow from a non-language speaker to become a nominee for the PWCS gifted PROGRAM.
Kristen Thomas, Godwin Middle School for coming to a colleague’s rescue by performing the Heimlich maneuver twice to dislodge an obstruction from her airway. Ms. Thomas’ quick thinking, skill, and heroic action no doubt saved her colleague’s life. |
