WHAT IS THE NATIONAL EXTERNAL DIPLOMA PROGRAM?

The National External Diploma Program is a high school diploma program for adults who have acquired their academic skills through life and work experiences and can demonstrate what they have learned.  The National External Diploma Program measures academic and life skills, including: 

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Mathematics

WHO CHOOSES THE NATIONAL EXTERNAL DIPLOMA PROGRAM?

Graduates of the National External Diploma Program are adults who are:

  • self-directed and mature (21 years or older)
  • practical and highly skilled
  • interested in confidentiality and recognition of their life-long learning
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Completion time varies with each individual, averaging from six months to a year.

DOES THE PROGRAM AWARD A REAL DIPLOMA AND CAN I USE IT TO GO TO COLLEGE?

YES!  The diploma is issued by the local school board and is accepted by colleges.  However, colleges may require that adults meet other admissions standards.

HOW CAN I REGISTER?

Attend one of the information sessions which are held at the Adult Learning Center, Prince William County Schools Administration Complex. No one will be admitted after the scheduled start time.  Allow approximately 2 hours for the information session and assessment. These sessions will be held on the following dates and times:

10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Mon., Sept. 28, 2009 Mon., Mar. 15, 2010
Mon., Oct. 26, 2009 Mon., April 12, 2010
Mon., Nov. 23, 2009 Mon., May 17, 2010
Mon., Dec. 14, 2009 Mon., June 14, 2010
Mon., Jan. 11, 2010  

 

WHAT IS THE COST?

  First Phase          $150.00
*Second Phase    $600.00

Total                       $750.00  (effective until June 30, 2010)

*Made in two $300.00 payments
