It was a celebratory night—with cheers and applause greeting every educator who was called forward for recognition at the School Board reception held last night at Colgan High School. Award recipients drew standing ovations. Prince William County Public Schools’ Teacher and Principal of the Year—and finalists in the Washington Post regional awards—were announced. Elected officials, School Board members, the Superintendent and his staff, and nearly 500 family, friends and staff attended to honor more than 50 educators.
Nathaniel Provencio, principal of Minnieville Elementary, and Rebecca Kronthal, second grade teacher at King Elementary, took the overall honors. Maria Centini, English teacher at Hylton, is the High School Teacher of the Year, while Jennifer Brown, ESOL teacher at Graham Park Middle, was named Middle School Teacher of the Year.
The annual recognition event honored nominees for the principal and teacher awards and educators and administrators who renewed their national board certification.
