Prince William County Public Schools Registration Process

Español | Tiếng Việt | فارسی | 한국어 | العربية | اُردو | 中文 | پښتو

Step 1: Find Your Zoned School

Parents should enroll their child in school as soon as they arrive in Prince William County. Use the Find Your School tool.

  • Parents whose students are currently enrolled in any Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) preschool program (preschool or special education) do not need to complete the online kindergarten registration process. Instead, please contact the registrar for the school where their student will attend kindergarten for the upcoming school year.
  • If you have additional questions about school enrollment, you may contact your zoned school. A list of school websites can be found under the Select a School tab at the top of the PWCS homepage.

Step 2: Assemble Documents Needed To Register Your Student

You need:

  1. Your student's original birth certificate or certified copy. A photocopy of the child's birth certificate will not meet this requirement. For purposes of official business, you'll want to obtain a certified birth certificate from Department of Public Health or Vital Records Office where the student's birth took place. This is also often described as an "official" copy. If you do not have a certified copy of your student's Virginia birth certificate please visit the Virginia Department of Health Office of Vital Records webpage for assistance.
  2. A deed or lease for your home or a contract for a new home (if you do not have a deed, lease or contract please read Regulation 711-3 for more information about documenting your residency in Prince William County).
  3. Two additional documents to prove your residency selected from the following:
    • Valid Virginia driver's license with current address
    • Car registration
    • Utility bill or utility hook-up documentation
    • Personal property tax bill
    • Bank statement
    • Payroll stub
    • Voter registration
    • Car or homeowners insurance policy statement or card
    • Other documentary evidence sufficient to prove residency
  4. Negative results of a tuberculosis screening test for students who have been outside the United States or U.S. territories for three or more consecutive months during the five years before the registration date. Learn more about tuberculosis screening.
  5. A comprehensive physical examination for students in grades K-5 performed within 12 months before the date the student first enters public school. The Virginia Department of Education and the Virginia Department of Health require documentation on the Commonwealth of Virginia School Entrance Health Form (PDF) before enrollment.
  6. Proof of Required Immunizations
  7. A copy of the current Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for students receiving special education services.
  8. Custody documents, if applicable.

Step 3: Register Online

Parents should select instructions for existing families when any of the following are true:

  • The parent has a student(s) currently enrolled in a PWCS school or program.
  • The parent has a student(s) who was previously enrolled in a PWCS school or was previously evaluated at a central office location.
  • The parent had a parent account at any time in PWCS.

Please select the button below that applies to your family.

Step 4: Contact the School To Make a Registration Appointment

After completing the online registration process, contact the registrar at your student's zoned school. Below are the email contacts for each school level.
