| ABOUT OUR SCHOOL |

Antietam Elementary, named after the Civil War Battle of Antietam, is located in the beautifully wooded community of Lake Ridge, and opened in the fall of 1990. Antietam Elementary has been designated by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Fully Accredited School and is also a Prince William School of Excellence.

| SPECIAL PROGRAMS |
Antietam is the home of on-site gifted, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and Reading Recovery Programs. TMR (Trainable Mentally Retarded) and Pre-school handicapped classes are also part of the Antietam community.

Antietam boasts a Chess Club, Junior Magician Club, Boy and Girl Scouts, Ecology Club, Antietam Broadway Chorus, Fifth Grade Strings, and, for the staff, Teachers as Readers |
| OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT |
| Parents at Antietam are invited to participate in the PTA and Advisory Council. The RSVP Program invites senior citizens to serve as mentors to Antietam students. Other tutoring, volunteer and mentoring opportunities are also available.
