ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Godwin Middle School was named for Governor Mills Godwin, "Father of Virginia's Community College System."  Godwin opened in 1970 as the first Middle School built in Dale City.

Community Served: Godwin students reside in Dale City.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Godwin is the home of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program. This program offers a challenging comprehensive academic middle school program for students. 

The program connects the subject areas of language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, foreign language, technology, fine arts and physical education through five Areas of Integration. For students who wish to continue the program in ninth and tenth grade, a Middle Years Programme Certificate may be obtained at Gar-Field High School at the end of the tenth grade.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

Godwin offers after-school tutorials, and, twice each week, an after-school program in which the school's Community Resource Officer (Prince William County Police) offers a study time, games and activities.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES & SPORTS

Godwin offers a complete Middle School Athletic and clubs program, including Step Team and tennis.

 

OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Godwin Middle School parents can participate in the school's PTO, Advisory Council, tutoring programs offered through the Ministerial Alliance, the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme Advisory Council, and a Gifted Education Advisory Council.
