ABOUT HENDERSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Henderson Elementary is named for Alexander Henderson (1738-1815), who came from Scotland to Virginia. Though he served in the American Revolution, his chief claim to fame lies as the father of the American "chain store."

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Henderson Elementary has the Foreign Language Immersion Program (FLIP) and an in-house gifted program.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

Henderson students can participate in the Safety Patrol; Student Cooperative Association (SCA); Strings Program; WHES-FM, a radio broadcast; and the WHES-TV show.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES & SPORTS

Henderson has many exciting activities and events throughout the year!  The enrichment activities are listed above.  Some of the special events include, Field Day, Storybook Character Parade, Science Fair, and Spring Scoop.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Henderson belongs to the Prince William Coalition of PTA/PTO. The P.T.C.O. is very active at Henderson. It meets monthly and plans many activities throughout the year. The P.T.C.O. coordinates the publishing of the "Henderson Herald," a monthly newsletter.  The P.T.C.O. also coordinates the Henderson volunteer program, a large and active group.
