| ABOUT KILBY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL |

Kilby Elementary School opened in 1959. In 1971, the PTA urged the renaming of the school for its first principal, R. Dean Kilby, who served there from 1959 to 1971. |

Kilby students reside in the communities of Marumsco Village and Marumsco Hills. |

| EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES & SPORTS |
On Thursday afternoons, Kilby students are welcome to participate in the Tiger Care program, offered by community volunteers; and Girl Scouts meet at the school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. |
| OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT |
Kilby parents can join the PTA and serve on the Advisory Council. Some offer their time to pop popcorn on Friday mornings. The Kilby community enjoys spending time together at the school's Ice Cream Social, Cake Walk and Hispanic Family Night. Adult Education Classes in English are offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. |

Kilby is a small, diverse and hard-working neighborhood school of about 320 children. The school is within walking distance for 95 percent of its students. The staff has made a commitment to the academic success of each and every student. |
