Potomac View Elementary School was built in 1963 in what was once the Occoquan district. It was sited on a hill from which one could, at the time, view the Potomac River. When the Woodbridge district was created in 1976, Potomac View was within its boundaries.
Potomac View's students reside in Marumsco Acres, Willowbrook, BayVue, Lynnwood, and Potomac Vista.
The school offers Head Start, ESOL, and many special education programs.
Potomac View offers an after-school program to bolster student's skills in reading and math in grades three-five, as well as the Accelerated Reader reading enrichment program.
Potomac View has an active PTO and many parents volunteer in the school's Accelerated Reader program.
Potomac View serves a diverse community. Some of the students come from as far away as the Congo, Ghana, Viet Nam, Thailand, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Many of the school's staff are natives of other countries as well, including Panama, Bolivia, Puerto Rico and India. Potomac View not only embraces, but also celebrates its diversity.
