ABOUT SPRINGWOODS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Springwoods opened in 1985 due to the growth of the Lake Ridge community and it was named for the area it serves, which is the Springwoods area of Lake Ridge.

Springwoods Elementary School has been designated by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Fully Accredited school and is also a PWC School of Excellence for years 2001 – 2007.

Springwoods was named a 2008 No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School and received the Virginia Index of Performance Award in 2008.

 

COMMUNITIES SERVED

Springwoods serves the community of Lake Ridge north of Old Bridge Road, along Springwoods Drive, and south of Old Bridge Road along Smoketown Rd to Beaver Ford Rd. 

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Springwoods has had its own in-house Gifted and Talented Program since 1996.

Springwoods opened its own ESOL center in 2006.

Enrichment:

Springwoods students are on a block schedule which includes Art, P.E., Music, Library, and Technology for students in grades K-5.

Extra-Curricular Programs:

Springwoods Elementary has an active Student Council Association (SCA), Patrols, and Strings program, as well as, Girls on the Run, After-school Spanish/French classes, and Magic Club.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Springwoods has a very active PTO. Through its fundraising, the PTO provides opportunities for staff development, as well as class materials for students and teachers. Springwoods also has a wide array of volunteers and retired educators who work with students on a regular basis.

Springwoods is a neighborhood school in which parents take an active role in participating and supporting their child’s education. In addition, parents, teachers and administrators work together to provide a warm atmosphere conducive to learning.
