ABOUT TRIANGLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Triangle Elementary is located adjacent to the entrance of the Quantico Marine Base. It is a fully accredited by the Virginia Department of Education. Our school’s population is very diverse and we are committed to meeting the needs of our students. Triangle operates under the instructional framework of The Eight Step Process, implemented by the Brazosport Independent School District in Texas . This framework is based on a plan, do and check model. Teachers plan and adjust their curriculum pacing by continually examining assessment data.

They create instructional calendars that are data driven and reflect the performance of the students. Based on the data analysis, students receive extra time and support to master the standards or participate in enrichment activities during a core extension block called “Tiger Time”. Teamwork is an important element of The Eight Step Process, and the entire Triangle staff works together to ensure the success of our students.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Triangle classroomTriangle Elementary offers many programs to support all learners. All of our Kindergarten students participate in a full day program with emphasis on Language Arts and Math curriculum. Title I Math and reading services, including Reading Recovery and Math Recovery are available for those Triangle students needing extra support. At mid-year, an extended day remediation program is available to students needing extra practice to master grade level standards. Bus transportation is provided for these students. Triangle Elementary is a University School and provides training for students teachers at Mary Washington University. Triangle Elementary also participates in the Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) program which promotes home reading by holding three book distributions a year.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

There are many opportunities for parents and community members to be involved in promoting the success of our students. The Triangle PTO organizes Family Fun Nights, fundraisers and assemblies to promote positive community relations. The ESOL department organizes the PEP program which offers English classes to parents who are English language learners. Retired teachers participating in the ROP program and Forest Park High School seniors earning service hours act as reading partners for at-risk first grade students. The Title I Department organizes three Family Literacy and Math Nights to share strategies with parents to use at home with their children.
