 ABOUT POTOMAC MIDDLE SCHOOL

Potomac Middle School opened its doors in September 2006 completing the middle level of panthers on Panther Pride Drive.

Communities Served:
We serve communities along Cardinal Drive, Route 1 just south of Neabsco Creek, Princeton Woods, Port Potomac, Eagles Point, Southbridge, and Panther Pride Drive communities.

Potomac Middle feeder elementary schools include Swans Creek, Mary Williams, Leesylvania, River Oaks, and Dumfries.

 ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

StudentsPotomac Middle School has a site-based Signet program, designed to meet the specific needs of our gifted population.  In addition, qualified students may participate in extended level classes in mathematics and language arts and students are offered high school level classes in algebra and foreign language. 
Other programs at Potomac Middle School include Alpha Academy, after school SOL tutorials, and math and reading intervention programs. Computer labs and computers on wheels support science, social studies, language arts and math, and modular labs support technology education, family and consumer sciences and a media based library.

Potomac Middle School StudentsThe English as a Second Language program provides services for students from different countries who speak native languages other than English. A key component of this program is our commitment to family literacy. We participate in the Prince William County Parents as Educational Partners (PEP) intervention program. This program offers instruction to ESOL parents/ guardians in communicating with the school, filling out job applications, and other related skills in addition to English language lessons.

 

 EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES & SPORTS

Potomac Middle SchoolPotomac Middle School provides a wide variety of extracurricular activities to our students including art, computer, drama and chess clubs; a literature magazine; a yearbook; Step Team; Dance Team; Panther Pals; National Junior Honor Society; International Club; and several championship sports teams.

In our first two years of participating in Prince William County Schools athletics we have won the Eastern Regional Football championships, boys basketball and cheerleading. Other sports include girls basketball, volleyball, soccer, track and field, wrestling, softball and baseball.

 OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Parents and community members may be involved in several volunteer areas including the Apple Federal Credit Union, the Principal’s Advisory Council and the PTSO.
