Young Scientists Impress at Regional Science and Engineering Fair

Jr. Division Winner - Kaitlyn Torrey

Kaitlyn Torrey, a student at Alvey Elementary School, impressed the judges at this year's Prince William County-Manassas Regional Science Fair, landing the Junior Division Grand Prize trophy. Kaitlyn’s project was entitled “What is the Best Way to Make Water Safe for Drinking?and was in the Medicine and Health category.  She investigated different water purification methods (boiling, distillation, filtration, and chemical tablets) determining which way was the best one to produce suitable drinking water.

More than 65 judges evaluated projects exhibited by about 215 young scientists, students from public and private schools in Prince William County, the cities of Manassas, and Manassas Park. All participants had won top honors as first or second place finalists at their local science competitions.
