The “Potomac Shores” Elementary School Naming Committee will hold a community input session to receive name suggestions for the “Potomac Shores” Elementary School, currently under construction at 2500 River Heritage Blvd, in Dumfries. The session is scheduled for Monday, January 30, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Potomac High School in Dumfries.
The committee will consider geographic or historical identifiers, as well as names of living or deceased person(s) who have made local, state, or national service contributions. Selection preference shall be given to those individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of education, especially within Prince William County.
Citizens who make a suggestion are encouraged to provide background information to aid in the selection process. Please see School Board Policy 854 and Regulation 854-1 for details.

The Naming Committee is made up of School Board members Loree Y. Williams (Woodbridge) , Justin David Wilk (Potomac), and Chairman Ryan Sawyers. All three represent areas impacted by the likely attendance area of the new “Potomac Shores” Elementary School.
Recommendations of the School Naming Committee are scheduled to be presented to the full School Board for information on February 1, 2017, and for action on February 15, 2017.
Currently referred to as “Potomac Shores” Elementary School for planning purposes, the new school is scheduled to open in fall 2017. It is being constructed to accommodate existing and ongoing residential development in eastern Prince William County. Attendance boundaries for the new school are scheduled to be approved on January 18, 2017.
