Drop Everything and Read
D.E.A.R. Day

D.E.A.R. stands for “Drop Everything and Read”, a national celebration of reading designed to remind families to make reading a priority activity in their lives. It’s a time when kids can read and enjoy the books they want, just for the pleasure of reading with no questions asked! The Association for Library Service to Children, part of the American Library Association, Reading Rockets, and other media organizations encourage families to designate just thirty minutes to put aside all distractions and enjoy books together.
Children’s Day/Book Day- El día de los niños/El día de los libro
April 30
Commonly known as Día, this celebration is for children, families, and reading which emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds. This annual event is celebrated on April 30 which creates a year-round commitment to connecting diverse books and programming opportunities in the library. This national observation is sponsored by the American Library Association.
