Educators’ Symposiums Highlight Global Society

Teachers and others who are interested are invited to join the PWCS Global Learning Office in discovering world religions and cultures. A series of programs is planned to help educators understand and teach with sensitivity to the many facets of diverse cultures, supporting Virginia Standards of Learning and the PWCS Strategic Plan.

The symposiums encapsulate key elements essential to understanding the student beyond academic performance and address the characteristics of each culture in our contemporary world with an emphasis on the cultural customs and traditions. Community members and students are welcome to attend.

• Saturday, October 14, 11 a.m.–4 p.m., Islamic Symposium, at Dar Al-Noor Islamic Community Center, 5404 Hoadly Road, Manassas, (CRI 733). 
• Saturday, October 28, 9 a.m.–noon, Ghana Symposium, at Potomac Middle School, 3130 Panther Pride Drive, Dumfries. Register for (CRI 730).
• Saturday, November 18, 9 a.m.–noon, Buddhist Symposium, at the Meditation Center of D.C., 3325 Franconia Road, Alexandria. Register for (CRI 732).
