PWCS announces applicants for interim chairman for School Board

Applicants AnnouncedTwenty residents have applied for the interim Chairman-At-Large for the PWCS School Board. The interim appointee will perform all duties of the Chair until the position is filled in a November 2018 special election.

The Chairman-at-Large helps preside over Board meetings; signs legal documents, as authorized by the Board; leads agenda-setting meetings; and, along with other members, represents the School Board in events and coordination with government, and other organizations.

Applicants (including their city of residency) include: Lucy Beauchamp, Manassas; Kristi Black, Bristow; Shawn Brann, Bristow; Justin Caron, Woodbridge; Langston Carter, Woodbridge; Doreen Dauer, Woodbridge; Victor Gaither, Haymarket; John Gray, Lake Ridge; John Kribbs, Woodbridge; Barbara Larrimore, Woodbridge; Babur Lateef, Manassas; Sarah Pitkin, Manassas; Kevin Raymond, Woodbridge; Donald Richardson, Haymarket; Heather Steele, Woodbridge; London Steverson, Manassas; Richard Wellman, Jr., Bristow; Lori Williams, Woodbridge; Wendy Wise, Woodbridge; and Lisa Zargarpur, Manassas.

A Public Hearing on Prince William County School Board’s interim appointment will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, in the School Board meeting room at the Kelly Leadership Center. Residents may sign up to speak at the hearing by contacting the Clerk to the School Board by telephone or email, no later than noon on the day of the hearing. Would-be speakers may also sign up in person from 6-6:55 on the evening of the meeting.

Each speaker will be provided up to three minutes to make comments. Applicants for the position are also invited to speak for up to five minutes. Only those whose names are considered at the public hearing will be eligible for appointment as the interim School Board member. The School Board plans to vote on the interim appointment on April 18, 2018.
