PWCS Seeks to Improve Programs and Services for Students with Special Needs Through Program Review

To improve the services and support provided to students with special needs and their families, PWCS will participate in a special education program review for the 2017-18 school year. PWCS has selected Public Consulting Group (PCG) to examine the continuum of services, student progress, program effectiveness, allocation and use of resources, and to identify specific areas of strength as well as improvement targets.

“We are looking forward to working in collaboration with PCG to enhance and improve services with the ultimate goal of replicating best practices across our Division and increasing student achievement,” said Dr. Michelle Roper, Director, Office of Special Education.

Our Division is committed to continuous improvement. The review process will involve interviews with various stakeholder focus groups, site visits, and reviews of Division processes and procedures, all of which are scheduled to begin in December 2017 with the expected completion date of March 2018.

The final report is scheduled to be presented to the School Board, Superintendent, and stakeholders in
April 2018. PWCS will utilize key findings to develop and implement action plans that will address these findings and enable us to reach our Strategic Plan goals.
