Choir Singing - VMEA Blue Ribbon AwardNine schools in Prince William County have earned the Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) Blue Ribbon Award. The VMEA Blue Ribbon Award is the highest award given to music programs in Virginia and recognizes schools that achieve excellence in Band, Orchestra, and Choral Performance.

Gainesville and Marstellar Middle Schools both earned a Blue-Ribbon Award. In addition, Battlefield, Colgan, Forest Park, Osbourn Park, Patriot, Stonewall Jackson and Woodbridge High Schools earned the Blue-Ribbon Award.

All disciplines in a school must receive a rating of "Superior" at assessment to qualify for this award. To be considered for the Blue-Ribbon Award, the top performing groups must perform two pieces from approved graded music lists, not to include the warm-up selection. All groups must sight read or sight sing to be eligible for this award at the District Performance Assessment.
