Elementary school students walking in front of school buses after arriving at school

Dear PWCS Families, Employees, and Community,

On Wednesday night, our School Board recognized the invaluable contributions of our student School Board representatives: Isabella Aversano from Gainesville High School, Fernanda Morante from Forest Park High School, and alternate Jackelin Garcia from Osbourn Park High School. I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to our student voices as they help us toward fulfilling our mission to serve as trusted and authentic partners throughout the educational process with our students, families, and community.

Over the past two years, our dedicated bus drivers and transportation department have been working hard to meet our students' needs. We have experienced many challenges with student transportation and have listened to your feedback and worked diligently to continuously improve our service.

During this week’s School Board meeting, we shared the results from an independent study commissioned by our Transportation Department. The findings from the independent study are the outcome of a comprehensive review of our efficiency model. There are community virtual engagement sessions scheduled next week on May 21, 22, and 23 to inform our school communities of transportation improvements designed to strengthen customer service to families, students, and schools in the upcoming school year.

To register for one of the sessions and to learn more about the 2024-25 school year changes, please visit our website.

Our retiring teachers and staff are joining our graduates on their exciting next chapter. PWCS will recognize our dedicated retirees during the 2024 retirement ceremony on Tuesday, May 21, at Patriot High School. The ceremony will be broadcast at 7 p.m. on PWCS' Facebook page and PWCS' YouTube channel. The ceremony is broadcast to allow maximum participation of retirees from throughout the past year, and their families, including those who may have moved from the area. I encourage you to tune in and join our celebration.

Sincerely,
