Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) and the Prince William Education Association (PWEA) announce the official solidification of all negotiations for the 2024-25 collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Both PWCS and PWEA celebrate the exceptional outcomes realized through our collaborative bargaining efforts.

“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with PWEA on substantial benefits. In addition to our competitive salaries and benefits package, PWCS is excited to offer additional leave and support to our staff, reaffirming our commitment to ensure PWCS is the best place to work for our educators,” said Prince William County School Board Chairman At-Large Dr. Babur Lateef.

“At PWCS, we prioritize the well-being of our students and employees. We invest in our staff and take immense pride in providing additional benefits that further enhance their lives. These added benefits will assist us in continuing to attract and retain exceptional educators and staff to serve our students,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. LaTanya D. McDade.

“When our educators have adequate employee benefits, they can devote their time and energy to their students and families. This is beneficial to all students, enhances employee morale, and facilitates the retention of valued employees in our schools," said PWEA President Maggie Hansford.

Both PWCS and PWEA note the additions to the CBA will benefit both students and staff alike. Among the milestones achieved:

  1. Implementation of 6 weeks of paid parental leave coupled with short-term disability access for up to 12 weeks, bolstered by job security measures to instill stability within our classrooms.
  2. Expansion of bereavement leave provisions to 3 paid days, affording staff the necessary time for grieving and healing.
  3. Increased compensation for club leaders in recognition of their additional responsibilities.
  4. Heightened support for staff transitioning to teach different grade levels.
  5. Increased flexibility for staff through converting 2 days of sick leave to personal leave for a total of 5 personal days throughout the school year with all leave provided in the beginning of the year.

Both parties extend heartfelt congratulations and thanks to the dedicated community of more than 11,000 educators within PWCS, who will benefit from the agreed-upon terms within the 2024-25 collective bargaining agreement. We are proud of the achievements of our collective workforce and look forward to a future marked by excellence and progress for all.
