Congratulations to the following teams and individuals on their championship titles.

Team State Championships

Brentsville District High School

Girls Soccer

  • The Brentsville District girls soccer team secured their second consecutive state title with its 2-1 win over Western Albemarle High School in the VHSL Class 3 state soccer championship. The Tigers experienced a successful season, culminating with 19 wins, two losses, and one tie. During the game, Peyton McGovern, Brentsville senior, scored both goals of the game, and converted a penalty kick in overtime bringing her total goals scored this season up to 32. Congratulations to the Brentsville soccer team on its second consecutive state championship title.

Osbourn Park High School

Girls Softball

  • The Osbourn Park High School girls softball team won the VHSL Class 6 state title after a hard-fought season. This is the Yellow Jackets first state win since 2016. Samantha Borrayo’s seven scoreless innings as the senior pitcher were crucial, and the RBIs from seniors Sade’ Brooks-Robinson, Amari Frederick, and sophomore Gauri Saigal sealed the deal. Saigal’s single in the top of the fifth, driving in Brooks-Robinson, was the game-winner – a pivotal moment. The Yellow Jackets’ 3-0 win against Battlefield High School is a testament to their determination and teamwork.
